AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY Friday, August 21, 2009

Hello everybody. I haven't been around for the past week I realised.
On Friday last week I had a great hacking cough. On Saturday I caught a fever. On Sunday I copped a stomachache. And on Monday?
I'M FINE.
I have the most abysmal bad luck.
On Monday night I had leg cramps. On Tuesday night was a long drawn out asthma attack.
On Thursday for CCA we ended up looking up our birthdates on Wikipedia. The first thing on my birthdate is "University of Leipzig opens". And then it's peppered with Prime Ministers, Presidents and scores of Politicians. It means I'm going to become one one day.
Gen's was AWESOME. Wars, battles, massacres, serial murderers, you name it. I like her birthday.
Trini will henceforth be known as the Pope Killer. Two Popes died on her birthday. Other than that she had a lot of firsts. Like "First man on the moon", although that wasn't one of them. She also had a couple of porn stars here and there.
Our combined birthdays (October 7 and April 20 - Hitler's b'day) had two popes dying and a lot of Nobel Laureates.
Anyway. Yesterday's History test's source based inferential question was hilarious. It went something like "United in a band, together we stand, equality for citizens all, wealth and riches for all". So for my second inference I put "I can infer that they have a terrible sense of rhyme. This can be seen from the last word in every line." I cancelled it out, but only drew a stroke across so they can still read it.
If my marks return bad (which they probably will) I think it's worth it.
I spent four dollars yesterday on five books and three Time magazines. $0.50 each. I've finished four out of five books already.
Yesterday's Lit was stupid. There's this story in "Stories from Asia" called The Assignment. The Sikhs are fighting some other race and this family is the only one of that race left. Ages ago the father of that family helped out some Sikh guy who was in trouble and ever since that guy has been giving them a gift every year. One day some other Sikh guy comes along and gives them a gift. The old guy died and that's his son. He says it's a pack of noodles. After he walks off he meets this gang with torches and weapons. "Have you completed your assignment?" They ask. He says yes. "Shall we continue with ours?" "If you must." Then he walks away.
What do you make of it?
Our Lit Teacher said the pack of noodles was in actual fact a bomb.
I raised my hand and said, if the pack of noodles was in actual fact a bomb, there wouldn't be any need for the 'your assignment my assignment' part. And why would they need to torch the house when it's already going to be blown sky high by the bomb? Overkill.
I can't remember her answer.
I also asked, why would they need to disguise the bomb in a pack of noodles if the rest are so forthright and going to use weapons and torches?
She said, "Because it's fun?"
Someone suggested those with weapons and torches were going to burn another house.
But then, I said, it reinforces the fact that there's not supposed to be the last part there! Why would rioters who have nothing to do with each other ask about their assignments? They can do that at debriefing later. (Ha ha.)
The teacher said I believed in the good of man. I said loudly that I did not.
At night we went to the Cat High school musical. We waited for ages outside and I was reduced to watching a girl play Bratz on her Nintendo DS. It was a while before I realised it was in German (Just for you, Ros!).
The musical was pretty funny and very well done. The dancing segment must've been based on Michael Jackson. Although they could've chosen better stars. Two of them I think were straining to reach the high notes. And the bully was rib tickling.
But Jason's part was just at the end. THe finale. There wasn't even a point for the choir.
There was one song that was very nice, that went like "nobody understands me, sometimes I feel like I am alone in this world, da da da da da da nobody understands me". It sounds very familiar but I can't remember. During that part you could hear that a few of the violins hadn't tuned their instruments.
There was this part where the teachers who were acting as parents started to sing. The mom (Jason's science teacher) began and I was wondering who was singing, because I sure as hell didn't realise. Then I saw it was here and said, "I wasn't expecting that."
Then the dad began to sing and I said, "This was what I was expecting."
He was like Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia.
And as if they'd heard me, the music they played at the finale when they were cutting the cake was - guess what? Mamma Mia.
I am now stuck on my home econs research. I have no idea what to do.

1941: German troops reach Leningrad, leading to the siege of Leningrad.
ALSO: 1932: The BBC first experiments with television broadcasting. YAY!

~Quote of the Day~
In war there is no prize for the runner-up.
-Omar Bradley. How true.

~Useless Fact of the Day~
This is just for fun. I'll start with the eternal crowd pleaser.
