AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY Saturday, November 29, 2008

No, I haven't read the series, just one book, but it does seem an apt enough title.

Bangkok airport being stormed.

Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Infocomm CCA camp.

Maybe not the last one, but you get the idea.

Bangkok airport - lots of tourists stuck there, some now resorting to other means like train or another airports to go home. Not very good for the economy if you ask me. These protesters are supposed to be protesting the government, but they aren't exactly helping their country either.

But I'd rather be stuck in Bangkok than be in Mumbai now. Terrorists launching a dastardly attack on five star hotels, targeting foreigners? Death toll's now about 155. It's like the Pearl Harbor of the Twentieth Century, or India's September 11. It went all too well for the terrorists - they were too well coordinated to be stopped until sixty odd hours later.
Perhaps the saddest story of all for Singaporeans would be the killing of Lo Hwei Yen, the first and only Singaporean fatality from a terrorist attack. The cruel irony of it all was that she was only supposed to be there for one night, which just happened to be when the terrorists attacked.

And finally, CCA camp. it was from the 28th-29th November, so I just came back.
What a letdown.
I couldn't participate in loads of stuff like human table soccer 'cause of my toes. Although my toes were useful in the sense that everyone asked about 'em and I got plenty of opportunity to discuss blood and gore.
Anyway. First we had human table soccer, then human minesweeper. I was wondering if we'd have human counterstrike next, then we'd have guns and get to shoot each other.
After that it was wash up then barbeque. I volunteered to go and buy ice (Air con!) but when I came back, quite a bit of food had disappeared, including my sausages.
So for dinner I had one and a half sticks of satay, one glass of ice lemon tea and one of coke, a few ice cubes and biscuits.

The Night Trail was made all the worse since people started to tell ghost stories before the trail.
Honestly, you shouldn't be telling ghost stories before a night trail. It just makes people feel all the more worried. Like Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself." You're just making it worse and making people's imagination go wild.
People were screaming all over the place 'cause Exco dressed up as ghosts to scare us. But they were wearing the wrong outfit. Cinderella shirt thing? Obviously not a ghost. Media Club? Since when have ghosts been so up to date?
I think the worst part of the trail was the screams.
The worst was yet to come, however. When it was near twelve and I was trying to sleep, they were watching a movie.
And not just any movie.
High School Musical Three.
My worst nightmare.
I couldn't bloody sleep, all the way until about two. Then at three odd, the seniors woke me up with stories of pink clouds and pieces of bread eating themselves.
Slept again, and woke up around four with talk of Egg mufins and god knows what else from MacDonalds.
The last time I woke up was six thirty, and I stayed awake. Ate two ham and cheese sandwiches for breakfast.
Captain's ball was one of the last things we did. With my toes I couldn't do much but be the Captain, which was sad because I think I'm much better playing on the ground than standing in a chair. I was wearing black sandals and my feet were burning. Our team didn't do too well in the first round, getting thrashed around 12 -2. All I did was stand there with my burning feet, occasionally playing with my phone.
The second round we fared better, drawing 4-4. That was good news. Problem was that three of our team, Nicole, Eunice and Trini, weren't doing much besides slacking with me. Nicole did get pretty active towards the end, Eunice somewhat, but Trini has a ridiculous phobia of balls and pretty much didn't touch it for both games.
Gen played so hard she almost had one of her hyperventilation things.
The sec 2s and our biscuit sec 4 senior also did their best, and it was because of them we didn't lose by a wider margin in the first game or lose in the second.
I guess CCA camp wasn't so bad.
Compared to being in Mumbai right now.

~Today in History~
1943: The famed Tehran confrence, in which Frankling D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Josef Stalin agree to the Invasion of Europe scheduled for June 1944 and code named - guess what? - Operation Overlord.

~Quote of the Day~
You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.
-Isoroku Yamamoto, mastermind behind the Pearl Harbor attacks. He may have well been right had they invaded.
