Write to live, live to write.

AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Today, a pregnant cat was discovered in the house.
In the kitchen, to be precise.
There was a hullabaloo when my mom went down to the kitchen and a brown streak flashed past her.
It is now confirmed that there are no sign of newborn kittens around the house.
There have been numerous cases of creatures crawling around the landed property situated in the middle of nowhere.
First, there was a huge bird that flew in through the window one day.
Then, there was the neighbour's toy dog that escaped through the gate and found its way into the living room.
Of course, there was also the infamous case of the kitten in the engine. (Note to all animal lovers: nothing to worry about, the kitten was uninjured and managed to escape. However, a few years ago a rat wasn't as lucky. It found itself inside my dad's car's engine and it was ripped apart. A man was later paid to take the rat out.)

Do I sound like a newscaster?
Anyway.
Tomorrow is children's day. Coincidentally it is also my parent's 16th wedding anniversary. And there's no further elaboration, so we shall just proceed to the next topic:
GROUSING ABOUT THE 400 WORD LIMIT ON THE STORY WE'RE SUPPOSED TO WRITE.

How the hell do you expect me to write a story when there is a four hundred word limit? I mean, the poem itself (The one we're supposed to write a story on, Mid Term Break by Seamus Heaney) is already just a bit less than 200 words!
Jeez. How I hate word limits. I bet for this story, like so many commonwealth essays before it, I will be spending more time cutting down on words than writing the damn thing.
There is really no need for word limits. How are people expected to write good stories if you have a word limit? There is usually no limit for proper stories, so they can't really put a limit on these sort of stories.
Therefore I've decided to type the story out. Because, as I told Joy, if I write it out, it will be several hours and many, millions of cancellations before I finally get it done. It will look much messier than my usual work is...and that's saying something.
But of course, so that we don't get on "dear" Mrs Sushilla's nerves, I shall have to write it out on foolscap paper later.
Well, I'd best be getting off to write my essay...or I won't have any time to cut down the word number to the stupid limit.

Oh yeah, and the F1 race that everyone's been talking about. How could I have forgotten that? I watched it until lap 29...I was lucky enough to see Nelson Piquet's crash. And of course, Massa's pit stop accident.
Poor Ferrari...Maybe they should ditch the green light operating system. I mean, with technology like this you can't be sure whether the guy just pressed the button accidentally.
And after that, when Raikkonen (Jing Yi is seriously weird. First she goes repeating Raikkonen's name over and over again, and when she remember's Massa's first name (Felipe) she repeats that over and over again.) crashed out with 4 laps to go Ferrari's hopes were extinguished.
According to Raikkonen he crashed 'cause he was tryin'a overtake Timo Glock. Bit stupid really. He just shoulda stayed at fifth place, then at least he could've gotten some points.
There goes Ferrari's hopes.

1944: Calais liberated!

~Quote of the Day~
We must be very careful not to assign to this deliverance the attributes of a victory. Wars are not won by evacuation.
-Winston Churchill, talking about the miraculous evacuation of the British troops from Dunkirk, a feat I'm sure everyone will know. You don't? Never mind, then.
